World AIDS Day is December 1st as it has been since 1988 when the World Health Organization dedicated the day to spreading the word about the new virus.
There are over 30 million people living with HIV in the world as of right now and the WHO thinks that we can get that number to 0 within a generation. The theme for this World AIDS Day is "Getting to Zero". And if everyone participates this can be a very real goal.
"Awareness and education is the key to stopping HIV world wide and that's what this observance is all about," said Joel Richardson of yourstdhelp
This year if it's possible for you to donate money or time go for it and if you've never been tested the CDC recommends that everyone should be tested at least once in their lives. In fact around 20% of infected people in the U.S. don't even know that they are.
